Howdy Folks
I'm trying to get my loads faster, and so shut down a lot of programs before starting the game.
I can shut down anti-virus, and the google/apple stuff, but what else can I shut down to lessen the load on the computer and make load times faster? Is there a guide psoted anywhere?
I am running Windows XP.
Thanks...

Do you have an IDE drive or a SATA drive?

Try Game Booster, it's a free application that shuts down a lot of background programs and somehow better diverts resources to running your games. You can also defragment your game files with it. What I find nice about the program is that you can click a button to switch to gaming mode, it closes shit and does its stuff, then you can click the button again, and it will resume everything you had prior. It should speed up your load times a little bit, as well as performance. But yeah. SATA drives have better read speeds, and Windows 7 + more RAM works wonders.
