First off, I want to apologize for the delay of this post. This week we had a lot of things we wanted to implement and as such this post had to be delayed to accommodate that. As always let’s get things started out with our Players of the Week. This time around we highlighted the Sniper class. When this was first announced I heard a lot of talk about how this was going to be a no contest victory for Korben. Honestly, I’ve been head shotted enough times by him for me to actually start to be convinced by that.

However, each week I continue to be amazing by what ends up happening once we start tracking the stats. It was a hard fought week but in the end the victor came out of nowhere to clench the win. Congratulations maximumbob for being our first Sniper Player of the Week. We also have maximumbob winning his first Steam group Player of the Week, and scoring the most amount of kills this week. I am thrilled to announce that maximumbob has achieved our very first trifecta winning all three awards we give.

Top 10 Sniper Kills:
1) >f$> maximumbob - 3,330

7) >f$> Tina - 4,084
8) Antignition - 4,078
9) Time to Rage Quit - 3,803
10) um.Cae - 3,765

I also want to announce that we have a big surprise to for two of our regular players. First I would like to announce that Tina will be receiving a free steam game of her choice for being our first player to win back to back Player of the Week. I also want to announce that maximumbob will also be receiving a free steam game for being our very first trifecta Player of the Week. Congratulations to both of you for all your hard work. We will be contacting you about the games available for you to receive.

On top of the free game we will also be giving each of you two free months of supporter status for your amazing achievements. Congratulations to both of you and I hope this motivates the rest of you to get out there and top the charts.

Next, we are happy to announce that the results of the custom map thread are in. The community has spoken and starting Monday, February 1, the maps Haarp, Frontier and Panic will be in the server rotation! Here are the results from the map voting:

Please note that there have been some changes made to the front page. We have added a Stats tab that will explain a bit about how the stat system handles things and also how we handle the Player of the Week awards. We would also like to announce that we have installed a calendar mod to the website. This will hopefully assist in organizing our events and allow you to quickly see what events are coming up and RSVP to aid in making events run smoothly.

Also we have added a Community Events Forum and a calendar to make it just that much easier for you to attend the great events we will be hosting. Make sure you check it out and RSVP as soon as you can. Many events will be first come first serve and if we have too many attendees we will only be able to accept those who responded first.

I would like to take this time to remind all members that we expect them to keep up to date with the application forum. We have received some complaints about applications taking too long and part of it has to do with members not responding in a timely fashion. Please check the application forums every couple of days to see if any new applications have been open. You’re feedback is needed to expedite the process and we hope you will assist us in making the application process smoother for all involved. Also we have noticed many members simply do not respond to some applications. Please make an effort to reply to all applications. If you do not know the person well enough or have some other qualm keeping you from giving a +1 let it be known. Many times we keep applications open longer than they need to be due to the fact that many members have not answered. A neutral response such as I don’t know them well enough to +1 will at least allow us to know you have seen the application and considered it. Also please understand that a +1 without a meaningful explanation behind it counts for next to nothing. Please refrain from simple one sentence answers and put some thought behind why or why not you think this applicant should be accepted.

As always please send any questions, comments, or concerns to community@f7lans.com . I hope all these exciting announcements were worth the wait and I hope to see you all in the servers enjoying your map contest winners.

That he does. Or doesn't leave the house...either way he has been rewarded. Remember kids friends will only take you so far, but free stuff lasts forever!

Better yet have real life friends join you on F7 servers and you don't even need to go outside!

But oh wow, a prize! That's so exciting :D Thank you Socratez and all of F7 for having such a fun place to come and play!

And great job Bob, you managed to best me at Sniper. :P

First off, I'm pretty pumped about all of the new changes, especially the adding of maps to the rotation, and congrats to Tina and maximumbob for winning a sweet pair of prizes.

However, I am a bit confused about how the kills were calculated, specifically bob's:
SOCRATEZ wrote:

<snip>

I didn't have any sniper kills at all, so I'm not trying to say that this error matters or anything like that, but I couldn't help noticing that maximumbob is listed as having more Sniper kills than total kills overall. Also, in other confusing news, maximumbob isn't even listed as having over 3,000 sniper rifle kills (I know it is a 30-day total, but I figured PotW would be the previous week, and that should be in the 30-days) at stats: he (at the moment I typed this) had 2,509 sniper rifle kills listed. Even accounting for SMG (1 kill) and Kukri (162), that isn't past 3,000, not to mention 3,330.

So, I guess I'm just wondering where the numbers came from, mainly how he could have more sniper kills than total kills during the Jan 31 week :P

When I first typed it up I figured it was calculating points instead and thus HS were counting for more. However Sleeper said it should be kills. He is currently looking through the script to figure things out.

Also since I forgot to include it with all the excitment this week we will be doing Engy so get out there and build!

Tman - I am going contact the guy at HLXCE who helped me write the script. What you are saying makes sense and I see that on the actual stats tab it lists less, but I am looking over the SQL command and it looks right. I am manually running it too and it still checks out.

So I will get back to you on that with some details. Maybe it is points and I am crazy.

EDIT
Well the good news is that, it seems to be off for everybody, so there must be something I am missing.

Thanks for looking into it sleeper, what you find out should be interesting.

SOCRATEZ: Are we looking at Engy kills (total, including sentry), total points, most buildings, or what? Engy and Spy are the two who probably have the most possible measures of "skill," and since Engy is one of the classes I like to play, it'd be nice to what I should focus on :)

I do not reveal what exactly will be measured for that reason. I want people to play and have this be an organic process. I'd rather not have people going out of their way to do X to win this. Just play Engy the best you can and good luck.
